1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legally binding agreement between you and UrbanFix LLC ("UrbanFix," "we," "our," or "us"). By creating an account, submitting a service request, or otherwise using the UrbanFix platform at urbanfixsc.com, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use our platform. If you are using UrbanFix on behalf of a business, you represent that you have authority to bind that business to these Terms.

2. UrbanFix is a Marketplace

UrbanFix is a technology platform that connects homeowners with independent contractors. We are not a home services company, and we do not employ or control the contractors who use our platform.

Contractors on UrbanFix are independent businesses or sole proprietors. They set their own prices, determine their own availability, and are solely responsible for the quality and safety of the services they perform.

UrbanFix makes reasonable efforts to screen contractors (including license and insurance verification), but we do not guarantee contractor performance, the quality of any work, or that a contractor holds current licensure for any specific task. Homeowners are encouraged to review contractor profiles, read any available reviews, and ask questions before accepting a quote.

3. Accounts and Eligibility

To use UrbanFix you must:

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at support@urbanfixsc.com.

UrbanFix reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that contain false information, violate these Terms, or engage in fraudulent activity.

4. Homeowner Terms

Submitting a Service Request

When you submit a service request, you are providing information to help contractors understand the scope of your job. You agree that the information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge. Providing false or misleading information may result in account suspension.

Receiving and Accepting Quotes

Contractors will review your request and may submit quotes for your consideration. Quotes are estimates based on the information you provided. Final pricing may vary if the actual scope of work differs materially from the original request. Any change in scope should be agreed upon in writing (via in-app messaging) before work begins.

Confirming Job Completion

Payment is held in escrow by Stripe until you confirm the job is complete. You agree to confirm completion promptly once the work has been satisfactorily finished. If you believe the work was not completed as agreed, you must raise a dispute through UrbanFix within 48 hours of the scheduled completion date (see Section 14).

Cancellations

If you need to cancel a scheduled job, please do so as early as possible through the platform. Cancellations within 24 hours of a scheduled appointment may result in a cancellation fee as set forth in the contractor's quote terms. Repeated no-shows may result in account suspension.

5. Contractor Terms

Eligibility Requirements

To offer services on UrbanFix as a contractor, you must:

By registering as a contractor, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements. You agree to promptly notify UrbanFix if your licensure or insurance lapses. UrbanFix reserves the right to suspend your account pending re-verification.

Quoting and Performing Work

You agree to provide accurate, good-faith quotes based on the homeowner's description. You are responsible for clarifying scope before beginning work. Once a quote is accepted by a homeowner and you begin work, you are contractually obligated to the homeowner under the terms of that quote.

Background and Verification

UrbanFix may conduct, or require you to consent to, background checks as a condition of platform access. You authorize UrbanFix to verify your license status, insurance coverage, and other credentials with relevant state agencies and third-party verification services.

6. Payments and Fees

How Payments Work

All payments are processed through Stripe. When a homeowner accepts a quote and authorizes payment, funds are held in escrow by Stripe until the homeowner confirms job completion. UrbanFix does not hold funds directly.

UrbanFix Service Fee

UrbanFix charges contractors a service fee on each completed job. The current fee is 10–15% of the total job value (the exact rate is displayed in your contractor dashboard and may be adjusted with 30 days' notice). This fee is automatically deducted from the payment disbursed to you upon job completion.

Homeowner Payments

Homeowners are charged the amount agreed to in the accepted quote. Payment is authorized at the time the quote is accepted and released to the contractor upon job completion confirmation. Homeowners are not charged additional platform fees.

Refunds and Disputes

Refunds may be issued in the following circumstances:

Refunds for work already completed are handled through the dispute process and are not guaranteed.

Taxes

Contractors are solely responsible for all applicable taxes on their earnings, including self-employment taxes and state income taxes. UrbanFix will issue a Form 1099-NEC to contractors earning $600 or more in a calendar year, as required by law.

7. Messaging and Communication

UrbanFix provides an in-platform messaging system for homeowners and contractors to communicate about jobs. All platform messages are subject to these Terms.

You agree not to use the messaging system to:

UrbanFix may review messages to resolve disputes, enforce these Terms, and ensure platform safety. We do not read messages for advertising purposes.

8. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

Violation of these prohibitions may result in immediate account termination and, where appropriate, referral to law enforcement.

9. Intellectual Property

The UrbanFix name, logo, website design, and all content on the platform (excluding user-generated content) are the intellectual property of UrbanFix LLC and are protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other laws.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the platform for its intended purpose. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, or distribute any part of our platform without our prior written consent.

By submitting reviews, descriptions, or other content to the platform, you grant UrbanFix a perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, display, and distribute that content in connection with operating and promoting the platform.

10. Disclaimers

THE URBANFIX PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

UrbanFix does not warrant that:

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, UrbanFix expressly disclaims all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, URBANFIX LLC, ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM OR ANY SERVICES PERFORMED BY CONTRACTORS.

IN NO EVENT SHALL URBANFIX'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE TOTAL FEES PAID BY YOU TO URBANFIX IN THE SIX MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of liability for certain damages, so the above limitations may not apply to you in full.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless UrbanFix LLC and its officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, awards, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to:

13. Termination

You may close your account at any time by contacting us at support@urbanfixsc.com. Upon account closure, your profile will be deactivated and you will no longer be able to access the platform.

UrbanFix reserves the right to suspend or permanently terminate your account, without notice, if we determine that you have violated these Terms, engaged in fraudulent activity, or posed a risk to users or the platform. Contractors suspended for cause forfeit any pending jobs not yet completed.

Sections 9 (Intellectual Property), 10 (Disclaimers), 11 (Limitation of Liability), 12 (Indemnification), and 14 (Governing Law) survive termination of these Terms.

14. Governing Law and Disputes

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

Dispute Resolution Between Users

Disputes between homeowners and contractors regarding job quality or payment should first be submitted to UrbanFix's support team at support@urbanfixsc.com. UrbanFix will attempt to facilitate a resolution in good faith, but is not obligated to resolve disputes between users and is not liable for the outcome.

Disputes with UrbanFix

Any dispute between you and UrbanFix LLC that cannot be resolved informally shall be subject to binding arbitration administered by a mutually agreed arbitration provider, conducted in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. The arbitrator's decision shall be final and binding. Class action lawsuits and class-wide arbitration are not permitted.

Exception: Either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction in Spartanburg County, South Carolina to prevent irreparable harm.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our business, applicable law, or platform features. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page and notify registered users by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect.

Your continued use of UrbanFix after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes your acceptance of those changes. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the platform before the effective date.
